Oh, to be a police officer and actually be able to pull these people to the side, get them out of the car and say" Hey, what do you think you were doing?"

Just yesterday someone did a Belgian on me, and these things get to me...

You drive along at speed limit on three lane motorway on the inside lane as you approach a junction, car come sup behind you indicating to come off but he is going faster than you are. When he is right up behind you, and we are now talking yards before the start of the slip road, where he is coming off, he OVERTAKES and then pulls in in front of you but as the sliproad is disappearing he BRAKES, inches from your bumper and/or with the rear of his car actully in your lane before he has passed you completely, to get off the motorway on time. That is when I want a Bond car, open the centre armrest and press MISSILE.

This was a Passat, but BMW's and Golfs often do it, Vectras, anything German really. Not a Volvo so far, but I have noticed that S80 drivers can be a bit sloppy. There are loads of 700/900's here and they normally behave.

Hi,
You cannot overtake safely any more!!!!! Overtaking equals speed and you can bet your life that there is a camera lurking at the only point you can overtake with safety!!! In our area everyone drives at 20mph....or they are forced to do so by others avoiding the totting up of points. But of course if your name is Fry..tonights news, you can drive at 99mph and get away with minor fines. 99mph?????? must have been a friendly copper cos 100 gets you a ban. I agree with the lights especially the rear fogs. Cheers Nige

Up he goes on that horse again! We don't have cameras in Belgium on motorways although they are appearing on 30 roads in towns, but I don't mind that.

Ok, Ok. From this little exercise it is obvious that there are some varying opinions on the matter and im pleased with the responses( maybe mike clift was a bit nasty though but i'm open to constructive criticism!! ) I'm saying no more on the matter but I am putting a letter together for my local constabulary stating my concern regarding the increased casual use of front foggers. Cheers everyone.

I have a white 850...what would be 'The Forces' view if I put blue/yellow reflective stripes on the tailgate?
I think this would certainly stop the idiots who tailgate, overtake and then turn left off motorway etc,...but would I be pulled up by the coppers because of it?

When people say they are "driving lights", they should have pointed out to them that they can only be driving lights if their centres are 606mm (2 feet) or more above the road surface. At least in UK this came under the Construction and Use Regulations IIRC.

All the best, Peter

Well I'm not sure how you interpreted my responses as being nasty.

If you are upset at having the Highway Code quoted when it wa apparent that you were unaware of the law then - well what can I say.

You either live within the law like the majority or you do not. I would much prefer if if you did, hence the suggestion that a copy of the HC may be a good idea to brush up on all those little points you have forgotten since the driving test.

If you prefer to live outside the law then I just hope I don't see you in the rear view mirror next time I'm in a 30 zone.

I wish you luck in writing to your Chief Constable - I do agree with you regarding the missuse of front (and rear) fog lights.
