Radio code?
Where/how can I obtain the radio code for an old Volvo 440?
Thanks in advance. |

RE: Radio code?
Go to your Volvo dealer and let him sort it out from the car's VIN and his computer.

RE: Radio code?
If that fails...(If the radio wasn't the original fit in the car) then they SHOULD be able to get the code from the serial number of the radio itself.
Failing all of that however, take it to a car audio dealer who should be able to decode/recode it for you. Cheers, Dan. |

RE: Radio code?
Got the code (the dealer charges £6 for this!) but now I can't work out how to enter the dashed thing. Can anyone help me with this? The display shows:
Cod < > But none of the buttons seem to do anything at all. MC |

RE: Radio code?
Start with radio switched "off". Keep the "aut" button pressed when you turn on the set. You should see "CODE ?"Enter your code with the preset buttons 1 - 8, "uml" = 9, "aut" = 0. "CODE OK" is displayed then the chosen code. Press the right side of the tuning button (side showing ">"). "CODED" displays for a short moment, the set works and the code is programmed in.
All the best, Peter. |

RE: Radio code?
Please note the above only works for certain radios.
I know from my experience that there are at least 3 different radios fitted to 440s all of which have different input methods. It would help if you could say which model your radio is mcameron. Mind you your dealer should be able to show you how....I wouldn't have thought they would charge for that service.......but you never know.... ;-) Cheers, Dan. |

RE: Radio code?
Its a VC602. I haven't tried the dealer, the local franchise holder changed to a garage a good bit further away so it is not so convenient. I'll try calling them as well.
Thanks, MC |

RE: Radio code?
Now I have tried the dealer. Just leaving the radio on for a period results in it returning to the "Cod" prompt (as opposed to "Cod<>").
I then press 1 and four dashes appear. Using the scan buttons I can enter the code. Apparently the code I was given is not right. This could be because I have been given the wrong code or because someone has reprogrammed the radio but not told Volvo. I've sent a mail to Volco customer services but if all goes true to form I won't hear anything from them. All very annoying. MC |

RE: Radio code?
Hi,
Not sure if we should publish this but we are all good Volvo owners. My Bro in Law moved his radio over to another 480 we bought and the radio needed re coding. It was at this point we realised there was no information on the code from when he bought his first vehicle. Put it in the freezer overnight and he presto no code is required! Chris |
