Try Lighter Fluid.
Squirt it on, let it soak and rub gently. It will desolve the glue and not damage the paint although will need a wash down and polish afterwards. Not a good idea to be smoking at the time either!!! Mike |

RE: removing self adhesive number plates
Hi Paul,
Only just read this and not in the office where I have a very useful tin of sticker remover. Just spray it on and a few minutes later the sticker comes off and you can remove all traces of the glue. I use it to remove competitors unremoveable address stickers of equipment! My son has just used it to remove stickers from back of window of vehicle and take of the rear view mirror sticker pad. I will try and get the part number for you. However, if you get bored waiting for me it is available and I purchased from RS Components on the web. Regards Chris |

Can you get a long bladed knife between the plate and paintwork and sort of "slice" through the sticky pads?
Or how about a piece of cheese wire or similar keeping it pulled towards the plate to avoid the paint? Can you break the plate of a bit at a time? There's a couple of ideas to try. Mike |
