Default "Woosh" - Help!

Hi All,

Driving my V40 along today, then all of a sudden, it sounded like a jet engine under load. Narrowed it down to turbo rev range and with foot in.

So, I assumed it was a pipe connected to the turbo system had split.

On further investigation with a local garage it's a pipe that appears to run from the intercooler and goes down the side of the engine. Some sort of elbow in it, but it's a split on the downwards section.

I'm having real trouble identifying it in Vadis. It's a 2001 V40 Diesel D4192T4 engine.

So if anyone can help me find the part, I'd be very grateful!

Many Thanks,

Daniel.

Hi there,

It does! Right diagram for sure.

There is this large metal pipe that comes from below the fan on the radiator. I assume this is the pipe from the intercooler. It rises up to level with the intake and passes under the intake large plastic pipe.

The pipe that attaches to this metal one appears to be the one that has split.

I should be able to figure out which one from that picture.

Digging around the car, there appears to be an oil leak coming from somewhere around the intake manifold. I know my EGR is bad but it doesn't appear to be leaking. There is thick black gunk over a lot of the engine at the back around the turbo etc. Or is this just how diesels like to roll?

Is there a turbo seal that commonly goes or similar? I've heard.

Might as well do it at the same time.

Many Thanks,

Daniel.

Hi All,

Turned out to be no.6 on the diagram. £33 from those nice people in Wales!

It's my EGR valve that appears to be leaking black gunk. Is that possible?

My understanding is limited.

Many Thanks,

Daniel.
