exhaust sensors /LPG
Could someone please advise on the following,
I need to change the pre-cat sensor on the 960 96 model 3ltr estate 160k and I have noticed some wiring spliced onto the sensor cable at the connection end. Is this wiring part of the electrical side of the Tartarini LPG system ? Another question is there any effect with this sensor malfunctioning (trouble code 0135) and the LPG system as I havn't seen a change in the car or mpg other than the light on the dashboard (cost of new sensor £75) The very infrequently drive on petrol Thanks for any input paul-c |

Not quite sure how you have come to the conclusion that the sensor needs changing from a fault code? Fault codes are a warning to a running problem.
The only way to find if ther is a faulty component is to use the component monitoring on the code reader. A dead lambda will either read a static 0.45 or very close to 0 at all times for a 0-1 volt probe. The 960 probe is quite odd as it is a .5 - 1.6 volt probe aprox. A working probe will track back and forth while the engine is running. The purple wire is for teh LPG system. It should have been connected on the plug on the bulkhead where the porbe joins the cars wiring. Asuming you have a old generation system this wire is need for the lpg fueling. If newer generation teh probe must be working to allow the petrol ecu to trim on both fuels. |

exhaust sensor/lpg
Thanks classicswede for your answer, I have spoken to company called lamdapower (searched the web for info and this firm is 10 miles away from me) and they say they will check it if I go and see them, I presume they will have some monitoring system.
The Tartarini system I hane is about 10 years old (installed it during the petrol tankers strike, I don't know what generation it is but the car runs fine on either gas or petrol excepting when the car is started, there is a problem with the engine not reacting to the throttle for a short period as if the computer cannot make its mind up as to what it is suppose to be doing, then I get it passed 1500rpm and its ok. At the moment I have the car up on jacks whilst I change the AT sump gasket Whats the saying, "when it rains!" Thanks again paul=c |
