Each to their own seems to be the finding here, we chose manual because to me its all part of the driving experience in a nice car with a decent engine pulling you along.
However, my big lazy flat four VW camper is an auto and wouldn't have it any other way for laid back cruising.

Was pleased about that too.

An Auto turns a luxury car into a luxury driving experience. Drive a big limo with a manual box (if you can find one) and you will see what I mean.

Not for me, maybe I'm just a rebel but in a car it manual all the way, an auto just dont float ma boat.

Agree absolutely in a big limo or van but hey each to their own, all XC60's I see seem to have happy drivers in them - regardless!

I was not specifically referring to an XC60.

Just that a true top of the range luxury car is nearly always favored to be an Auto and is often not available as a manual.

So, the conclusion is, each to his/her own. My other car is a Beemer 135i coupe, and it would be ridiculous not to have a manual in a car like that. For the XC60, I went for auto - for me it's not a real point-to-point car (like the beemer is) and a low stress relaxed ride is what I want from the vehicle. That said, I don't take delivery of the XC till first week in December so let's hope I still think the same when I get it then!!

You will not be dissapointed when it arrives

Know what you mean about the beemer. I had an L plate M3 before and agree auto would ruin pleasure, that said any AMG merc is an auto which would be a cracking drive.....one day maybe

I would guess that autos versions of XC60 are more popular as it is definately a premium car IMO. Manual D5's are in the minority based on forum members cars anyway.
