Question Ford or Volvo engine?

Does anyone know if the D5 engines are made by Volvo or Ford? I am buying a 2008 (08) V70 D5 SE Lux and one salesman (the one who sold it to me) said it was a Ford engine and another one said it was a Volvo engine. Who was correct?

Thanks

brian

It's a Volvo engine. The 2.0d and 1.6d are Ford/PSA engines.

Thanks for that. It's nice to know it's made in Wales.

Cheers

Is that still the case now that the 2 companies have parted?

I guess so as a new engine plant take a long time to set up and the volvo plant wouldnt be able to cope with demand yet , hence the shortage of D3 engines , But slowly ties are being cut with Ford now , these new 4 cyl turbo engines are rumoured to have a short life in volvos now ...

Interesting Clan. Difficult to know if we are getting a proper Volvo engine these days. One of the main reasons I drive Volvo is because of the superb reliability of the Volvo engine. Some might disagree with me but that has been my experience over the last 40 years with Volvo.

A lot of Ford banter on here?
From Ph2 onwards did ford build the 2.3T engines also?
I was chuffed with my Ph2 T5 until it seems a lot think build quality is crap compared to volvos of yester year
