Default Late 960 wierd noises..

My late 960 (96) has developed a wierd noise which seems to be coming from the back end, sounds like a whining noise, doesn't go away if I dip the clutch...any pointers...likely suspects?.......

oh, still appears to drive ok at the moment and I've not had chance to jack it up and investigate due to the bad weather.

either wheel bearings ,propshaft or diff at a guess , hard to tell which one without getting under the car and checking for excess movement in any of the above areas, or excess heat build up after a run if comparing wheel bearings side to side. look for rust marks or filings around each component too.

Yeah I'm guessing wheel bearing, hoiwever the diff could also be the source...have to wait until I get chance to look at it over the next few days.

my first guess would be the propshaft bearing. You may have to remove the driveshaft to check it,but my 740 did something similar and it was the bearing. Also check if the diff is unusually hot on touch after driving the car.
