I have the the Volvo aftermarket phone kit in my car, it did take my dealer 4 attempts to get it working, (2 years ago now) but I am very pleased with it now.
It has accepted several different makes and models of phone with no problems, and will freely automatically swap phones if my wife or daughters use the car. The handsfree quality is so good that it often gets commented on.The voice activated menus, dialling list, and caller ID are also very good and easy to use.
My main gripe is, and always has been, that when I bought the car and asked to have the phone kit retrofitted (at £520) that I was not told it was aftermarket. I assumed (we all know what assumption is!) that as I was ordering Vovo accessory from a Volvo dealer it would be the same as factory fit.
I have tried long and hard to find out if such things (phone dial pads, SIM holders, SAT-NAV) can be sucessfully retrofitted, and the answer seems to be no, under any circumstances, due to the car "knowing" about what it has from the factory, and here is no way to tell it otherwise.
