Diesels use a larger capacity air filter due to the engine drawing in the full volume of air all the time ( no throttle ) , you might have to change the petrol one twice as often if you use it on a diesel...

is this why the diesel one is nearly double the price ????

£20 opposed to £10 ?

Right I'd appreciate some advice here chaps.

From Volvo direct there is certainly two different air filter part numbers, one for petrol and one for diesel engined D5252T.

From Mahle there is two diff LX686 and LX726 respectfully.

Also the same from Mann and so on.

However from this company (Comline parts) they claim that their eaf094 fits both the Petrol and Diesel cars ??

http://www.comline.uk.com/catalogue/eaf094

anyone come across this brand before, it is wise to avoid ????

Cheers.

We can supply the genuine D5252T air filter at around £12 plus postage if required.

Rufe, i already contacted you about this through your official methods - thanks again. :-)

I'm wondering for my own curiosity why certain other suppliers say their filter fits either the Petrol or Diesel.

If they are the same physical size (but with different filtration elements), SOME manufacturers will just rationalize, and only produce the "better" one of the two.
