Unusual temp gauge problem
An odd problem has recently started on the temp gauge of my '95 940 2.4TDic.
It's intermitant but getting more regular. when stone cold I turn on the ignition and the temp gauge needle imediately jumps to the half way (normal) position, if I give the dash a good slap, it usually (but not always) drops back down to where it should be and then rises as per normal as the engine warms up. Has anyone come across this before? The fact that the needle drops back down by hitting the dash tells me the temp sender unit and wiring are ok, so possibly a dash printed curcuit or gauge fault, any ideas would be welcome as I've encountered plenty of temp gauge problems but nothing like this. thanks. |

Hi,
Most probable issue will be with the PCB in the instrument panel. The other possibility will be the temp gauge itself. The FAQ has some info on both. Des. . .

Thanks Des, I was thinking it was on those lines, I'll pull the dash and check the PCB, if nothing obvious I might try swapping the gauge with the one from my 740 (if it fits) and see what happens.
