Car is in for service today.
Air filter, Fuel filter, cabin filter. Also FPR and thermostat. All genuine parts, we'll see when I get it back today.

......if you don`t read your codes sooner than a month it could cost a lot in extra fuel for no reason???........depending how your miles are O2 sensors are dodgy around 1000,000mls but don`t just do the front one as the rear sensor will be in the same condition and they work in conjunction with one another, also the engine temperature sensor would be the first to replace as this has an effect on the mixture according to the temperature of the engine and it is cheaper and easier to do!!.....

Update
I have had the service done last week.
I drove to Birmingham and back this weekend, around 360 miles with 40 miles of this being around town and a max of 40mph, the other 320 miles being motorway of 50, 70 and other(!) speeds. I've managed to average around 36mpg, which I think is pretty decent! On the way to Birmingham I averaged around 40mpg as I was in no rush, which I think is pretty damn awesome! But sadly, the car is going up for sale, I will be getting a diesel of some sort for work!

Thanx for getting back to us, looks like a new FPR did solve your running problems then.

90% of my driving was a 14-mile daily commute (7 miles each way, mix of motorway and slow urban roads) and got about 24 - 28 consistently over 3 years of ownership. The most I ever got out of it was 40mpg on a 350 mile motorway trip, with the cruise control set at 68mph. If you feel that the consumption is still down, it could be something as simple as a soft tyre - if you've got one that's even 3 or 4 pounds under it can significantly affect fuel consumption. Also, if you DON'T drive fast, it may benefit to give the engine a thrashing now and again, just to clean filters/injectors/spark plugs - have a run up and down your favourite stretch of motorway now and again in the early hours and scare yourself!! Not that I condone speeding of course... |
