Question Accessing sunroof drain hose on 760 estate

Hi all,

I have a 1990 760 estate, and during the recent downpour I found that the footwell behind the passenger seat was full of water.

I have done some searching and reading, and I have discovered that the sunroof seal isn't meant to be water tight (mine certainly isn't!) and the water is drained away through tubes down the B-pillars. My assumption is that the tube on the nearside has come off where it exits through the floor.

So my question is this: how do I access this area to fix it?

Cheers.

The sunroof drain runs down the nearside C pillar and out through the wheelarch.
Check that the outlet is not blocked and the drain pipe is still connected inside.

Sorry, I did mean C-pillar, honest!

Thanks for the reply,

How do I get the trim off to gain access to the exit point?

Hi there, I recently had this problem. I attached a tube to a syringe and injected water down the drain holes around the sunroof. Water then ran out of the drains in the sills and I knew my pipes were good without any stripping down. I eventually discovered that there was a small perforation on the bulkhead which proved very difficult to get at but it is now sorted. I also think people have trouble with the vents on the bulkhead leaking. There are lots of threads on this subject on the forum.

Good luck, Dave.

Default Wet in rear passenger seat footwell

Check your sills (inner and outer) and doorseal and make sure that the doorseal is well undersealed to the upward pointing seam between the inner and outer sills.

You can poke strimmer line down the drain tube to help clear and locate.
