ALL FIXED!!!!!!
Went to another dealer (Wantage) and asked them to change a setting in the CCM parameters that Taunton Volvo had changed a fortnight before. Taunton had told me they had changed the air split top-bottom to 90%-10%. It was behaving like the 10% was the feet and the 90% was the screen. So, I asked the guys in Wantage to change it to 10%-90% (there is no description of which one is which on the Volvo diagnostics computer!!) I was right... it works as it should now: all vents warm when the cabin cold but then the upper vents & screen drop in temp to 'normal' as it warms up but the footweel has a constant flow of warm air keeping your toes and the cabin warm PS: The tech in Wantage had never heard of this setting, I had to tell him!!Go do it guys, you won't regret it!! Mine was free but bunged a tenner :-)

Good example of my favourite rant ref modern cars. Now so complex that Volvo technical department do not know how to set them up properly let alone the dealers!

Chesterman, I agree, in part, BUT I think the big problem is we've made the cars very technical, but not the mechanics! We've only renamed them to technicians, not sure they are really, still mechanics underneath.
Trouble with the younger generation is that if 'the computer' says there's nothing wrong - there isn't, they don't use good old diagnostic skills any more. Anyway, warm feet for me!! :-)
