Default Use of CD R/RW disks in multichanger

I've recently become the owner of my first Volvo, a 2005 XC90 Exec D5. It's got what I believe is the premium audio system, 6CD changer, Minidisk(!), telephone and the dotmatrix display.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew if it was OK to use CD-R or CD-RW disks in the multi-changer. I realise it doesn't play MP3 CDs, but my friend had a horror story when he put a CDR in his Discovery, and it got stuck in side (I presume it melted!). He then checked the manual which explicitly said *don't* use CD-R or RWs. I've not seen any such warning for the Volvo.

Does anyone know if they're safe to use?

Thanks,

Neil

I've been using cd-r in my 2009 XC90 with the 6 disc multichanger since day 1 with no problems.

No issues using both in mine.

Just as an aside, it may be old-school now, but I find the minidisc quality vastly superior to CD - I bought a cheapo netMD recorder online, and now use it to burn playlists in preference to CDs. With the premium sound system cranked up (including subwoofer, now alas removed from newer models) its quite brilliant.

Excellent, thanks. Yes, I've been looking at MD recorders on Ebay, and wondering if it's worth the effort. At least the kids can now listen to/watch their own things with the RSE in the back. All I need to do now is get my wife to like my taste in Music!
