I agree and am really uncomfortable with the explanations given to me (ok I am not a mechanic but I would like to think that I am not stupid either)!

Yes, I am too honest and mentioned the previous garage.............thinking about that , that was really stupid.

But they have me by the balls, they can charge me for the consultation and I can't drive her from site without being towed.

Any tips on a cheap recovery to my home until I find a garage, and recomend a mechanic's course so I am percieved as a muppett!!

Thank you
wont the AA move it for u? its worth a call they moved my car with no charge when i wanted it removed and taken to another garage, i said to them they were incompetent idiots (the garage) moved it no problem

cheers

simon

What I find strange is that you were able to drive it perfectly ok with the heater bypassed. If it has a "cracked engine" "U/S water pump" "Japanese nuclear accident damaged head" then how were you able to drive it any distance at all? Has earlier garage sabotaged the car in some way out of sheer bloody mindedness and garage 2 cannot find the problem so say "car knackered". I would contact AA and say that what this latest garage are saying is totally contrary to what AA themselves found and the fact that once AA bypaswsed heater the car drove perfectly and you want the car removed and brought to you for independent inspection with a view to legal action. Or...even speak with AA's own legal service.

Exactly.

That's what makes me think that there's probably not a lot wrong with this car, if anything. Cracked engines and faulty water pumps are very rare things.

As I understand it, you were driving it perfectly OK apart from the temp guage being a little above "normal" which is not all that critical, so surely the onus is on them to put it back in the condition that you can drive it out again?
