This is getting awfully boring, worse than children bitching at each other all time and yet its still managed to make 7 pages worth,
We all know things get exagerated and dyno's can be menipulated to give false readings, i've even been show how its done but do anybody actually care. Surly feedback off customers is better than trying to blow your own trumped all time

Ahhh I remember the day
I remember when I took my car to VT to have my ECU done. No mention of checks no mention of you might not get this figure.I even asked Adam what BHP I would get. OK so VT have improved thier operation in terms of checking things before upgrading and perhaps offering more advice. But as this post is about them being investigated by Trading standards I will let it contiue without making any further "bashing" comments.
Perhaps VT should look at the way they advertise thier product. Instead of quoting BHP figures and Torque figures may be percentages would be the way to go. I.E you will get a 10-20% power increase. Now No one can dispute that 10-20% is a large margin so therefore any discrepences (i know bad spelling) caused by age or wear and tear on the car will be covered in said 10%. (20-10=10%) And i guess since it's made 7 pages people do care. Regards Iain |

Yeah but its 7 pages of crap like it usually turns into when one of these posts starts, i read 3 pages and got bored same old stuff thats covered everytime one of these sort of posts start.
I've been on alot of peugeot sites lately with getting 309 and theres none of this on there, people just make up there own mind and deciede whats best for them.

the reason having the 280bhp is a bit different, is beacuse that figure nearly reachable. the 280bhp map is a new product and wasnt availiable when i had mine done. i beleive it was released as a way off accepting that the 304 isnt reachable. - at least its a step in the right direction by rica\vt, but they are still dodging the question at hand. you need to ask why did the 280 map appear at a time when this loss of faith in with the 304 map started. - I know why!!!! just to give a comparison, i know ofa v70 with a 3" down pipe and a 2.5" cat back that makes about 280bhp (rica claim 310bhp with just a chip) on pe's dyno's. around 275 is about the max you will ever see from a t5 with just a chip. if you read the thread there is evidence to support pe's dyno being pretty accurate. so with your 280bhp map your not far off if your car is a1, but this whole thread is more about the 304bhp map and the fact that its sold as that, but it dosent do what it says on the tin. so as you can see chris, its the people that have paid £590 for a bit of software (rica 304 and 310) that will pretty much yield the same results as the rica 280 that are annoyed. and as a community its unfair on the """more""" honest tuners that claim the lower figures as they dont get a second thought which is normally by the novice volvo owner like i was. But lately there has been a few people that have ditched the rica and move over to other software. Last edited by bobcat; Feb 2nd, 2006 at 23:48. |
