Default Struggling With My C70 Ride

Well, some of you may know my car fairly well but I have now lived with my c70 for 12 months and have been driving it in Spain for the last few months. Of the changes I have made - I regret just one.

I have had the following changes to the car:

1) BSR upgrade - fab
2) Eibach springs - fab
3) IPD anti roll bars - good but creak even with lubrication
4) Ferrica Catback - good

and this

5) Bilstein shocks - this is the problem

I think I made a mistake ... they are just too hard. I'm struggling to find out if they're are differenbt Bilstein ratings. I know Bilstein are great and have a pedigree. However on slightly bummpy roads it feels like my Cooper S.

Any help would be appreciated.

I allways advice people to stay away from the bilsteins for the reasons you state.

you most likely have the HD's, the other ones are the TC's which are softer.

I say get them off the car, stick em on ebay and get some konis which you can set full soft (like oem),full hard (like the bilsteins hd's) or somewhere in between to suit your style.

People love or hate the Bilsteins. As you have found the ride is hard but the handling will be good. All I can suggest is you sell them either in the for sale section of this forum or on ebay. Then I would recommend you fit Koni adjustables so you can set the ride to meet your exact requirements.

Default Bad on bumpy roads.

My gut feeling is that the combination of the springs and dampers is OK, but you might get a less harsh ride by taking the IPD bars off.

Also, what wheels are you running....18" allways give a harsher ride on the C70 over 17", something to do with that particular suspension giving a better ride with a little deeper side wall.

Regards, Don.

The only other option if you dont want any further expense is to refit the standard springs. I've read many good comments about stock springs with aftermarket shocks if ride comfort is important.

You'd better invest in a neck brace
