Question alloys S/40

do any members/readers have none-volvo alloys fitted to there s40v40's ? my 2001 s40 1.8 is fitted with volvo's standard alloys, a couple of which, are a bit tatty, i also need a pair of front tyres, 195/60 R 15 . lots of accessory shops, like halfords etc have got some very good deals on wheel & tyre packages, i was thinking of buying a set, or is it a " no go " for volvo hubs ? thanks jerry.

I used to have a set 17in milla miglia HT3's on my old s40 and it looked good just with the weight of the car and the 205/40/17's tyres the alloys took quiet a bashing and were buckled in no time.

I paid around 750 quid for wheels and tyres so they wern't exactly cheapist set of wheels in the world, i know halfrods do fox and OZ wheels, suppose it all depends what you want to do keep 15's or go bigger.

Fitments not a major problem but i know theres not as many choices out there as s/v40's have a odd stud pattern, 4 x 114.3 with a 35 to 38 offset, centre bores 67.

Mine is a 2001 model year running the later sport model volvo arcadia 17's running 215/45/17 tyres, i get a bit of scrubbage on full lock and i've replaced the 2 bolts on the front of the rear wheel arch liner with rivets cos it rubbed on them over heavy bumps.

But mine is lowered about 35-40mm all round it might not be a problem on standard ride height cars.

couple of pics of mine,

I have 17" Team Dynamics "Zeta" alloys on 205 tyres fitted to my (currently) otherwise standard '97 S40 1.8SE....Bought them on special offer from Halfords, and they went straight on no probs....

The car looks fantastic ....The only slight trade-off is a marked increase in road noise, but that's to be expected I suppose!
