If it's of any use, I recently had a scantech B230 head gasket and a genuine Volvo head gasket on the bench together. They were absolutley identical in every way except for the Volvo logo. There is no doubt in my mind that they were made in the same factory from the same material.
No idea if the same is the case for other items, but it certainly gives me confidence in the brand.

Use that information as you wish.

Cannot judge the engine components. But I prefer a secondhand original engine mount of 10 years instead of a new one from Scantech!

I had scan tech front wheel bearings fitted to Tank in around 07'. One failed spectacularly, dried up and welded itself to the axle stub. New/replacement strut was the answer to that one!
However, the other Scan Tech one is still fine?
Just taken delivery of some other Scan Tech bits dizzy caps and rotor. They do look identical. Time will tell.

have a look at the inside of the distributor cap . is it laquered , ie nice and shiny or a dull finish ?

The 850's one is fitted. But have looked at the 240s and compared it to the old one ( I always carry the old in me cubby hole) which is a Volvo (Bosch) and the Scan tech is dull inside, sort of glazed, but defo' not lacquered like the OE old one!

Exactly , that was the point i was going to make .
There is Bosch and there is Bosch .
2 grades of quality volvo have specified that they want a elecrostatic laquer applied to the cap to increase the resistance to sparks jumping around in the cap . Bosch are happy to supply the basic unlaqued cap at a cheaper price to Ford for example who use the "same " cap on the sierra in its cheaper un-laquered form .
Same with wiper blades ,
The standard BOSCH you get in Halfords last a year to 18 months , the quality Volvo demand last 3 or 4 seasons at least .

It goes on and on ..
People here dont believe me when i say the genuine volvo parts are not the same as anything you get at a motor factors , but this is a prime example of how the manufactures adapt their product to the specifications volvo lay down in their technical descriptions of parts they want for their cars ..

If scantec describe the un-laquered cap as OE Quality they are breaking the trade descriptions act ..
