Stuck tailgate
can anyone help please. I cannot open the tailgate on my 02 reg V70 estate. It stuck about a week ago but opening and closing with the fob managed to clear it. Today it will not open and I have tried both the key and the fob several times. All doors are OK but not the tailgate. When driving the 'tailgate open' warning is on.
I can of course get into the rear over the seats but is there any way of being able to open the door from there. I am going away in my caravan on Sunday and do not want to have to load it from the rear passenger doors. Julian |

If the handle is just not activating the lock, I do get some success by pushing forward on the tailgate - usually with the heel of my hand at the same time as pulling back on the handle.
When even this failed, it's time to partially remove the trim from the base of the window from inside the boot. I found by poking around with a screwdriver I managed to open it and you can then get at it to remove the trim. There are a number of posts on it - including this one with pictures http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...t=v70+tailgate |

this could be down to split wires in tailgate harnes, is not hard to do it to get there, you have to remove the trim, pull the plastic of the hinge and gently pull the wireing out, it will be covered in sort of protected mesh plastic, but I did mistake where I didn't inspected far down if you know what I mean, then I had to remove N/S trim to disconect the harnes and remove from clip to pull the harnes all the way up, there was few split/cut wires, mine problem was tailgate open on dash, lights not flashing on lock/open, there is also wires there that operate the locking via fob so is worth checking this out.
