“the D5 diesel is frugal but frankly noisy. Volvo could really do with a more modern diesel than the five-cylinder unit than this one” [Quote] Isn't the D3 a brand new engine? Could swear the salesman told me it was.

i've read through and i think the point you make is a good one. depending on what you read, there can be completely conflicting views on the same topic. there are probably a million reasons why that is. i guess that's bound to happen on any car. personnally, i subscribe to which? and i listen intently to what that says over any other review. that said, it's methods do have its flaws, but i know what they are, and can account for them.
in any case, you will be aware of the one latin phrase i learnt at uni (studying surverying). that is caveat emptor. regardless of what any review says or what any of your feelings are, you've made your purchase, and you either need to do what you can to get on with what you've got, or look for an alternative. to best enjoy what you've got, my advice would be to stop comparing what you have to anything else, and just relax and enjoy it. leave that work to others who are still in the process of making their purchase. if you put some of the gripes you have to the back of your mind, you'll probably find you adjust very well. btw, the RH to LH headlight change is rubbish to say the least. doesn't bother me though, if driving in Europe, i'll just use the usual method of restricting the beam manually. having made that point, if given the opportunity to speak to volvo, i would ask them what they thought about this idiotic piece of technology. numpties.

The online MY12 manual say:
Active Xenon headlamps* The car must be stationary with the engine running when the headlamp pattern is shifted between right and left-hand traffic. 1. Access the menu system MY CAR under Settings Car settings Light settings. 2. Select between Temporary RH traffic and Temporary LH traffic. So then, is the Right/Left choice "forgotten" after each journey? |

Yes indeed everything you say is totally correct.I fully agree and during the buying process I could have paid more attention in certain areas. Yes caveat emptor , whilst technically referring to "buying as seen" or "as is" or "aware of defects" or "buyer be aware" is commonly and widely regarded and taken to mean "make sure its suitable for you" And I for one should know..!!..lol Many thanks.Your posts are appreciated. |
