A quick fix might be to dose the petrol tank with Redex or something similar.(unblocking fuel jets) Works for me

Default 460 - 1996 reving problem

Hi there,
I have the exactly same problem with my 460 - uncontrolable reving of engine - and dies when accelerator pushed down on occassions - tried the redex treatment - halfway through the second bottle of redex now - still have the problem - so looking at changing the electrical management unit to the single point injection unit under the carberetta - (or what looks to me to be a carberetta - its sat ontop of a black box - and have been told this is the single point fuel injection unit) - have had the emissions checked at last MOT about six months ago - and a new back box on the exhaust system within the last twelve months - so the exhaust emissions sender could/may be telling the injection unit that the 'mix' is wrong - but methinks its a fault with the injection unit - will be looking for this part at a second hand sports injection breakers yard and try and get it fitted over the weekend. will have a look through this site for parts and see if theres any more information.
Good luck - let me know how things go - will post another reply when I have any news.
regards

Did take the motor apart too be carefull three of the clips around thesides broke- thinks I did not really need to do this either - would not have done it on my own lol all ok inside and put a meter on the motor - well friend did and all ok - notice one of the small hoses underneath the airfilter sitting on top of the carb was loose too so touch wood (touches head lol) problem has gone away !
