Information
  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way
  • AOL Customers: Make sure you check the 'Remember me' check box otherwise the AOL system may log you out during the session. This is a known issue with AOL.
  • AOL, Yahoo and Plus.net users. Forum owners such as us are finding that AOL, Yahoo and Plus.net are blocking a lot of email generated from forums. This may mean your registration activation and other emails will not get to you, or they may appear in your spam mailbox

As 960KG says, use sidelights and if you want to really reduce the power useage, use LED sidelight bulbs - work for me in UK and Europe.

Dont use really chep bulbs. Volvo original ones are designed so that they last. The sort you get from "halfrauds" are not the best. Consumabulbs do a good range and when I had a couple that lasted less than a week; they replaced them.

I also want to turn mine off so they are actually off in the 0 position, this is so i can actually sit in darkness with the engine running.

As above , it can't be done with a phase1 V40, you can only turn off the headlamps but not the sidelights.

F*** this, im taking apart the switch... soldering iron at the ready! I know its a safty option but i dont always want to be lit up like a christmas tree.

I tried with mine.. its the trackign inside which needs checking so if your very good with these things you should be able to track down which part of the switch does what other than that your buggered

....before you do that i would check with your insurance company as you may not be covered because you have altered the car especially a safety feature......if you don`t want the lights on buy the phase 2 motor....i know it sounds daft but even if you have the wrong tyres or wheels on your not covered unless you tell them, you know what they are these days the insurance companys will squirm out of anything and we end up being the loser....
