washer jets
hi i have 1996 850 estate
the screen washer has stoped working so far ive checked the fuse removed the motor and checked that it works it is could it be the stalk or the wiring?? where should i go from here car due its mot please held |

Before you start looking at the electrics see if the pump is or is not pumping. see if you can stand next to the washer pump and pull/push the stalk and listen, maybe try both and see if only only front/rear is not working.
Assuming that the bottle is full and the pump is working, keep it on for a while - there are valves that stop water draining back the bottle, so that it jets out as soon as the pump starts, if the valve fails then the water has to go a fair distance before it shows at the jets.

I am assuming it is the front screen washer that has stopped? Check the t-Piece valve under the bonnet insulation. They go faulty and cause this.

OK, if no power to the motor, then check power where it should be at the switch would be my next step. You can check the switch is working properly at this stage too.
