Is changing speedo head on a 940 tricky

Not particularly. The cowling has a square hole in each side through which careful poking of a flat-bladed screwdriver will release the catches allowing the cowling to be withdrawn. the panel attachment screws can then be seen. Unscrewing them will allow the panel to be removed towards you. Take care as the connectors on the back may be pulled off if you do not ease the looms as you withdraw the panel. Replacement is the reverse of these instructions. With the panel out it will be easy to remove the speedo head if that is what you want to do. It has it's own connector for it's drive signal, which comes from the speed/ABS sensor on the rear of the differential unit.
