Default 'Time for regular service'

'time for regular service' or words to that effect flashing up upon starting or turning off ignition. I have a 2.0D S40.

What does a regular service comprise of? i only bought the car 3months ago and it was serviced at the time of purchase. its done about 75,600 miles and i'm wondering whether or not it demands a service at around 75k by default as i know thats when the manual says it should require servicing??

Hi EndhooS,

I have had my S60 T5 for around 3 and a half years and only get 'time for regular serive' it never says full service or interim service required, as a result i always just look at the last service I had done and alter it, so if I had a full service last time I will do an interim service this time. If you had a decent service done last time your should be ok if stamped in book etc if you want peace of mind you may want to put it through an interim one then it is definitly done on time, oil filer etc will be changed and the garage can advise if you need anything else doing.

hope this helps

Ross

cheers for the advice mate. I'm sure it'll have been oil anf filters and nothing extravagant 3 months ago but i just wasn't sure whether the warning comes on whether it actually NEEDS the service or not. i.e. the manual says next service 75k so it tells you to get a service at that point regardless. if so am i going to have to endure that bloody warning until a couple of thousand miles down thwe line when i might actually require a service?

there are a couple of ideas for how you can reset the service reminder on the following post if you are happy it has been done

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...+service+light

this should reset it until it is next due one

Cheers
Ross

Did they actulay do a volvo approved service ? if so they would have reset the service light which they have not .. The 75000 service can be a very expensive one if the 8th digit of the VIN is 5 , particle trap and ELOYS fuel additive tank top up due ...

The service message comes up 12 months , 12000 miles or 750 engine hours after it was last reset , which ever comes first ...

yeah, i was worried for a wee while after buying that i might have dpf model but my 8th digit is a 4. However its still says in the manual that there is a service due at 75k so maybe thats the issue. I only bought it 3 months ago and i need to ring them about another problem thats popped up as its still under warranty so i'll speak to them before attempting to reset the light.

cheers for the help lads.
