OMG I would really like one of these!
How much work would it be to whack in a B230 if the engine developed serious/expensive issues in the future or proves to be a non-runner? |

Have any forum members been to view these cars at all?
Would be good to have an account of their actual condition from someone who knows what they are looking at! |

Not too difficult at all I should think! Probably easier than removing and refitting a V6 atleast.

Strange that I saw a long W123 Merc on e-bay or pistonheads earlier in the year (evidently an ex-funeral car or similar) which did nothing for me at all, even though I am quite a fan of the regular W123. I wasn't looking to buy just the hypothetical scenario ran through my mind of it being too long to park anywhere, hugely thirsty on fuel etc etc and it didn't look 'special'. Whereas these 264 TE's are somehow very attractive. Maybe it's the fact they aren't in funeral car black or the fact they seem to be adorned in loads of chrome. |

I must confess I haven't had any issues yet with parking mine but sooner or later I will get a ticket. As we go shopping quite late on a saturday there aren't many cars(or people)so theres plenty of room. Also the supermarket parking inforcing officers don't seem to be about then.
I did ask one attendant in a pay and display what he thought and he said "no problem mate it's within the white lines so no problem"Well it was but there was no box line in other words it only had side lines.A lot I have noticed have a boxed white line so if your outside it then your not within the parking bayWhen I park in morrisons or sainsbury's it takes up two spaces as I have to put the wheels into the bay in front. The other thing the pay and display bloke didn't realisewas that there is a wieght limit in most car parks as well.Mine wieghs 2250Kg so a bit heavier than most. As most of the carpark attenders are a bit like traffic wardens so I must have met the only nice one Lol. I think once I get mine looking more like a mayors car then I stand more chance of avoiding them.Bonnet emblem and crest on the roof and centre doors etc.Oh and a couple of flags up the front Lol. Wish I had bought the 760 limo that was on here but the cost of fuelling it and the increased cost of insurance put me off.Plus I thought of changing to a b230 but most insurance companies wont touch a modified car these days. Basically they don't like "different". Still very nice cars but without knowing how bad they are then a bit of a risk. Regards Brian. Is that right that the V6 only does 18Mpg ouch.Well I read that on the 264 site. The guy fitted a yank motor V8 and got 22Mpg and on a long run 25mpg. 264 TE specification
I couldn't remember exactly how much longer these TEs were compared to the standard car, so I looked it up.
The TE is 70cm longer (5.6m) and 260kg heavier. The additional length is all in between the wheels. I'm guessing (looking at the proportions) that the rear doors must be longer, possibly even modified front doors as they don't have the cut-away for the rear wheel arches? Now you wouldn't want to put a dent in those then! The spec sheet I looked at says it's a 3-speed automatic, which is disappointing. Here's a link to some info on what's included: 264 TE brochure. I like the radio volume controls hidden in the rear arm rest! Last edited by Lucien; Sep 27th, 2011 at 13:43. Reason: Added brochure link |
