As to performance here's a video of a EV estate thrashing a 911.

Pat, since the lounge closed I've been doing my best to not respond to you or a couple of other users, lets not bring it into civilisation eh, it's well proven whatever I say you won't agree with so pointless interacting with you, lets leave it there, good day.

Going back to the original question of the thread..

There definitely IS some kind of personal-level problem with certain people against electric cars.

We’ve been told a number of demonstrably untrue “facts” on this thread which are there for no other reason other than to scaremonger.

It’s been suggested that an electric car at impact will simply explode. But the data has been shared which would suggest this is no more likely than in a traditional combustion engine vehicle.

They have even opened another thread here now moaning about electric cars because if they run out of fuel they have to be towed or lifted away…! As if it’s not the same with petrol/diesel cars! 😂 The likes of RAC now hold mobile chargers to get to the fuel station. So what is the difference?

So what is it. On a personal level, that causes some people to hate electric cars so much.

Is this another fear of change thing? Or something else?

They are actually less likely to explode.

I’m looking at the Subaru XV Hybrid at the moment as my next motor. EV’s I’m awaiting sufficient infrastructure to support them before I take the plunge: by then the tech will be improved too.

I really like the XV but having had (just 1 year's) experience of plug in hybrid, I would probably go for another diesel hybrid with a bigger range from scratch, as the petrol XV is a bit too 'mild' in what it offers for the money.

I think a used E class estate starting with 50 or 60 miles of charge would be my next step from the 25 miles in my V60. On saying that, filled up today after a real mixture of trips over 560 miles at 68.9mpg. Not bad for a 40 litre tank. Not sure if you get much range extension on the XV?

I’d love another Volvo but I just refuse to pay the stupid money they’re asking for a used vehicle.

Out of all of the posters on this thread how many actually own a Pure Electric car at the moment?

I honestly see many benefits but I also see a huge amount of virtue signalling from people who have probably never lived day to day with one.

Wrong phrase for me. Hybrids are practical and I still have an ICE. Just happy to get enhanced MPG, range and zero road tax. My only virtue is thriftiness !

A Hybrid is a safer bet at the moment and I can see the appeal just as my neighbour did after getting rif of his few months old ID4.

Yours is the best of every world and the correct choice of propulsion.
