For those who may be fans of 'wooden' trims, I swapped my S60 5 speed auto leather grey knob with a 'wooden' one from a Geartronic S80
Side note, to insert the knob properly, the button needs depressed while giving the knob a strong push downwards (same when removing it from there)

[QUOTE=Simmy;2337843]early types are round the middle and outside are supposed to be connected by rubber webs. later types are like a 2piece cross to allow fore and aft movement.[/QUOTE
It was split. https://www.instagram.com/p/BbiF8TYD...air__your__way

Replaced the bulb in the DSTC switch today - annoyingly I could only source it from Volvo despite ordering very similar looking bulbs on eBay and trying a local motorfactors, still, at least its sorted.
I also replaced the locking fuel filler flap solenoid as my old one had stripped some teeth on the internal cog, most likely due to a failed hinge at some point. And I'm pleased to say I now have no more niggles!! I just need to replace my engine mounts (on order) and sort cosmetics and I'll have a perfect old V70.

Busy over the weekend.
Set of second hand Volvo wishbones fitted that I had polybushed earlier in the year with Powerflex purple bushings. New springs (Lesjöfors), dampers (Bilstein B4), top mounts (genuine Volvo), mount bearings (Lemforder), as well as all ancillaries such as bump stops, nuts, bolts and gaitors etc, all of which were obtained new from Volvo. Took the car for wheel alignment today, and to my surprise everything was in the green. No adjustments were necessary .

Haven't covered that many miles yet, so can't really comment. Initial thoughts are that it has been a worthwhile investment. As for fitting the polybushes, I made some press tools and used a 20 tonne press to remove the single rear bushing on each arm. The front bushings were a lot trickier to deal with. I used a hacksaw to cut through the rubber, which allowed removal of the steel through bar. Then using a hacksaw again I cut through the outer bushing steel shell, being careful not to let the hacksaw catch the aluminium wishbone.
I have since donated the press tool and template for holding the wishbone in place to another forum member. I found the front bushing was easier to press in when it was held properly in the template. It has the potential to go wrong if you don't properly support the wishbone, as it can slip easily when under the press. The rear bushing was straight forward enough to fit, and could easily be done with a vice.

I did get a cheap new press to do the fronts and rears, I must get around to doing them, it is good to here how others do fit them, as I have seen posts about others snapping there arms when doing it, Thanks Dave |

Over the past few weeks, with it's first MOT coming up in my ownership, I did the following to my 2002 V70 2.4 140.
New inner tie rods New track rod ends New front struts New top mounts and spring seats New front droplinks Fitted adjusters to rear handbrake mechanism New front and rear brake discs and pads Removed front wings and cleaned and undersealed Undersealed remainder of car Fitted winter wheels and tyres New oils and filters New fuel filter (original almost rusted through) (Car had previously been serviced by a combination of Arnold Clark main Volvo dealer, and Kwik Fit, lets just say what the comprehensive service history said, and the evidence before my eyes, were 2 different things) Cost of all the parts above apart from the winter wheels came to pretty much what the previous owner paid Arnold Clark for 1 service....... Passed MOT with no advisories, and compliments on its condition from the tester! :-) Also found heating to be poor, either off or totally on. Discovered cabin temperature sensor hadn't been reconnected after the LPG gauge had been fitted, 5 years ago! Now toasty warm when required, that's Her Majesty happy! |
