My Christmas prezzie arrived today although I can't get at it till the big day. I bought a retro-fit T.P.M.S. to monitor the pressure and temperature of my tyres and wheels. This is a great bit of kit as it tells you when a tyre pressure is low, but also when you wheel/tyre is getting hot. Very handy of you are prone to caliper seizing which our cars are if not serviced regularly. I have wrecked several tyres by not knowing I was running semi-flat. I have also had calipers binding that heat the caliper, bearing and wheel up and noticed a burning smell as I exited the car, or even had steam rising off a wheel in wet weather. It also wastes fuel. Once I did a temperature test of a binding disc to a non-binding disc and the temperatures were 25°C against 250°C. After a bit of reviewing I went for this:-

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-TPMS-...19.m1438.l2649

..which looks very similar to a more expensive model with similar layout at double the price:-

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TyrePal-S...19.m1438.l2649

I went for the external pressure sensor fitment that are held on with locking nuts, against the internal sensors that require the tyre removed off the rim to be fitted. This is a video of a TPMS being fitted, not the same model as mine but you'll bet the gist.

Replaced the solid engine mount that sits under the belts on the D5 with a new Lemforder mount. Only took 20 mins without removing the OSF wheel.

Hi Dave. There was a lot of room in comparison to other jobs, but in fairness it would have been easier with the wheel removed. With the wheels at full right lock, I was able to slide in from the front and crack on. The most awkward bits were removing and refitting the undertray (to slide the jack and block of wood under the sump), and trying to hold back the plastic wheel arch liner. The old mount was still in very good condition, and honestly didn't need to be changed.

Sounds like you had a busy and satisfying day yourself. Good luck with the power steering fluid flush tomorrow.

Use cable ties to hold the plastic liner

I'm away from home in my Iveco based Motorhome. Have been since about 18/10. Asked daughter to flash The Welshmobile up and give him a spin, she did and started on the button

Default How long will this last?

My 6 month old power steering reservoir and cap had started dumping even more fluid on the drive than the old tank. I didn't fancy forking out again for what is clearly a rubbish design. Thus, I cleaned out the old tank and applied lots of araldite to the seam. Just fitted it this morning and its not leaking (yet) Wonder if it will last longer than 6 months?
