Looks as though it will be a good meet!

Put me down for attending in the 960, not the 740 Estate now...

Best have a petrol station on standby too...

Are you a driver, passed fireman, fireman or passed cleaner? And is it only that Riddles designed tea making facility you crew or do you get to go on proper locos?

Dunno about him but I'm a driver elsewhere - though on sabbatical this year owing to work commitments. As for real engines I'd vote for anything not built/designed at Swindon but my preference is for things that bend in two places.....

Proper engines: http://users.powernet.co.uk/hamilton

Yep, I agree with you there - I tend to refer to those devices as 'Copper Topped Cr*p'. My own bias is towards Messr's Maunsell, Urie, Bullied et al of the Southern, but I must admit to a liking for K4's esp in their natural habitat (Fort William-Mallaig).

Yep, we're on the same wave length. I grew up watching Bullieds etc on the Bournemouth line so that's where my UK leanings are though I do like the LMS Coronation Pacifics. I've fired and driven Green Arrow - nice to drive but a b@st@rd to fire (has to be done left handed). One day I'll have a ride on the West Highland, my Great Grandfather is reputed to have driven the first passenger train out of Oban and a great uncle was also a driver on that line - if you can find a copy of "Ace Enginemen" he the driver to Oban.

Hopefully I'll get a go on our Beattie well tank when it reappears from restoration - I understand from the old hands that it can be "interesting"......
