15m of pipe, 20 unions and a forming tool £50, 30 mins to do!
Which tool did you buy and did it work ok ? I have heard poor reports about the cheep ones, the pipe clamp slips.

Hi Richard. I bought a Sealey hand held double flare item (£30). The only reason was that it was possible to use "on" the car (by nature of the handle/clamp device) as I didn't want to strip out 2.5 metres of good pipework just for 100mm of corroded.
It was quite easy to use, didn't produce the prettiest of flares (probably me on my back under the car) but being malleable metal pipe sealed perfectly. For £50 a good job and I still have over 14m of pipe and 16 pipe fittings left.

Rays Engineering are very well made wheels and a proper Japanese brand. You'll find that proper Japanese wheels are very well made because they don't buy crap for their cars and they are made in Japan. They are really well cast, strong and if they are split rims, they are proper split rims not fake splits that just have bolts.

They look to be from the early 2000's. If you did enough Googling on Rays Engineering wheels I'm sure you'll eventually find the model name of the wheels.

Personally I'd bung them on eBay as a full set of genuine Rays Engineering wheels in 4x114.3 with a starting bid of £100 and put the profit towards something a little less "White rapper who drives a Honda Civic".

That would be one way to test for the mysterious water leaks some V40's seem to suffer from.

Plastic welded the underside engine shield and it went quite well

I then took her for her MOT which didn't go quite so well!
Failed on both front flexi hoses and advisories on both front lower arm balljoints, front number plate deteriorated, offside front track rod end balljoint and nearside rear tyre close to the legal limit.
Just called FRF for a price on 2 lower suspension arms and that worked out at just under £200 delivered without everything else, big ouch!
Euro car parts thankfully have 25% off at the moment so it looks like I'll be getting it all from there and then spending Saturday getting skinned knuckles!

I found the name, rays engineering kreutzer, and yes they are genuine splits, I initially thought they were works eurolines but the works works look identical apart from being welded, one of the wheels still has a sticker on the inside from when they were new, they're dated 1999, but judging by the state of them they look to have been exposed to the elements for at least 10 years, the one I added the pic of is by far the best one, the others all look like this.

The plastic welding looks neat

The list of fail items are not too bad, they are all consumable items given our cars ages. Bit of an ouch in the pocket, but think how much better the car will be when done.
