The P2 does, not sure about the earlier ones. I thought the DMF was developed specially for rattly diesels

The petrol phase 2 is fitted with it too.

Stripped the rear suspension yesterday, ready to fit the new shocks, anti rollbar drop links and brake disc water excluders. Also found the top suspension tie bars have seen better days, so ordered a new pair of those. I replaced the bottom ones last year so they are all good. Off to Volvo now to sort out new nuts and bolts. Everything came undone easily enough, just bl**dy tight and not the easiest of things to get too.

I really wanted Meyle upper control links for the rear suspension, but could not find any online - apart from a supplier in USA. So reserved a pair at GSF of dubious quality. Wanted the car back on the road and not happy paying Volvo prices for new ones of suspect quality as the originals had perished quite badly. Anyway, to cut a long story short, popped into GSF to pick them up this morning and asked the chappie if I could have the best quality, even if it meant waiting a couple of days. He replied, 'we only do one quality' at £47 per pair. Oh well, at least they are in stock and I can get the car back on the road so agreed to hand over the cash. Got back home and went to fit them, undid the plastic bag and lo and behold, Meyle, Made in Germany, stamped on them. So, one very happy bunny. The ones online were nearly £40 each.

That is surprising as a lot of their brands are a bit poor or just complete junk!

Yes, to say I was pleasantly surprised when I got home is the understatement of the year.

Got everything refitted today. Just one slight hiccup. Went to Volvo to pick up the new nuts etc and was told 'we have the short studs that fit the water excluder to hub, but not the long ones that hold the ABS sensor - they are no longer available' Oh, b*gger! The old ones are special as the diameter of the stud is an exact fit in the ABS sensor, holding it in a precise position, but the heads were corroded and the corners screwed. The original head is 14mm, so I cleaned the old ones up and filed the heads down to fit a 13mm socket. All good, but did not expect to have to use my school boy metalwork skills. Just as well I paid attention all those years ago.

Anyway, road tested and all is good. The Bilstein rear shocks now match the set on the front and has really sharpened up the ride. Just need to refit the interior boot trim and valet.

First attachment, all stripped out. Second, water excluder and ABS fitted. Third, nearly there. Fourth, all torqued up and ready to go.

This weekend's joyous jaunts:

Drove to MoT station.
Drove to Manchester.
Drove to Bristol.
Drove to Shropshire.
Drove home.

Loved every minute.

I need a new set of the water excluders, as a pair of mine corroded and fell off.

How much are a set of those?

Gary
