My V40 goes to my mechahic this Thursday to get the valve cover gasket and camshaft seal replaced. Also, I should get my summer tires this week so I can finally put the new wheels on the car.

Replaced a headlight bulb, second one in a month. Although, in the interim the bonnet release had stopped working. Managed to get the bonnet opened at the cost of completely destroying the grille. Still, I've been thinking for ages about getting an eggcrate grill for it, now's the time....

Leave to dry, then a few drops of oil on the pivots. Your bonnet and grille will love you for ever more.

Oil will evaporate eventually, leaving the moving parts exposed to wet and ultimately making the problem even worse. You'll need to keep applying it forever-more.
I use something much thicker. After a thorough drowning in WD40 (to clean it) slop a ton of axle grease on it. 's what I did with mine, so far so good. |
