Hi Simmy,

The issue is that it has one Four C shock and one non Four C shock on the front i.e. without wiring... someone took the cheap option at some time in the past - believe that's what's driving the error..

Pics attached with Left and Right Front Shocks.. !

Guess the question is do I replace both with new Four C's? or get away with one?

re: VIDA

did you torrent all the software and drivers from here? https://docs.google.com/document/d/e...i3cpHBdsZa/pub

that's what I used and in fairness I did have to go over it a few times before it worked. it was the VXmanager thing that was the issue in the end I think, focus mostly on getting that installed right and having everything updated and re licenced which it makes you do again every now and then for some reason (no extra cost or anything, just a minor annoyance)

you'll get there in the end with perseverance, it's notoriously annoying to get working

Hi Simmy - breakers yard... any good?
Couple on in Lithuania but I think its pot luck if they work...

Re VIDA - Can get VCX to work comes up in drop down, drivers loaded etc - but just won't read Car - says Errors... Virtual maching is all good... frustrating... followed lots of instructions.

I also bought a Mongoose cable but not got that running either...
Have you got a link to ELK software - believe that offers a 4C delete option - any idea on price - I could put another standard shock on then delete 4C maybe?

Yeah saw that, they've got two... are all 4C shocks the same part number?

Vida shows 31277094 which one of mine on the car is - was the R 4C a difference variant?

evolve may be able to answer your shock part no question they are not an oily scrap yard they also sell new parts they should have the full volvo parts catalogue if they hold an official vida subscription without removeing all 4 4c shocks you will not be able to remove fault message you need to read the car to find out if any of the other shocks have faults try typeing 1 in the log in box on the vida screen to match vcx to vida folowed by the word admin in the same box look over on the sweed speed fourm there is some info on 4cshocks

Default On a lighter note - First Drives report

While I still fight to get the Errors off the dash, I've started to drive it round this week now that it is finally taxed -

I gave up on the manual V62 application to DVLA as they are still hiding from COVID...
So yesterday I went into the Post Office and did a 2nd V62 for the V5 and taxed at the same time... that worked so all road legal now...

So I've used it and wanted to give you all a first impression and up to date picture and set of real first impressions from this non-runner to runner story - and again thank you for all the help and guidance you have offered to date...

D5 Engine
Well - what a revelation that D5 Engine is!
I knew these were good, which is why I targeted it as a project - but with the new box it really is silky smooth and pulls like a train..
The 5 cylinder growl is a wonderful thing... and the 185 bhp and 400NM torque really allow it to lift its trousers and go!

RIDE QUALITY
Again wow!
Even with the 18 inch EVO wheels and skinny tyres it really still is very comfortable and magic carpet like.
The whole drive experience is of wafting along with an occasional growl to get the old girl swooshing along...
I did have rattle in the back, but investigation this morning found a missing rubber on the Dog Gate meaning it was hitting the roof... I moved one of the others and all was quiet again.
I can maybe hear some Wheel bearing noise at Motorway speeds - but only very faint - any guidance on what that might its a very low level growl...

SEATS
Again - amazing and living up to everything, probably the comfiest ever sat in and I've owned a few Saab 9 5s in my time.... which are also Swedish goodness.

VIDA - Reported earlier but still no success reading codes etc.

Three things still to fix and summarize:

1. Alarm Error - New Siren signposted earlier - thinking of doing it now just to get rid of that Yellow triangle that's always on.
2. 4C Shocker - to get rid of another error and yellow triangle - tracking down breaker ones now to see if that saves a few quid... will keep you posted.
3. Parking Sensors - just ordered 4 for £25 will get the bumper off and replace all of them...

I've also put Moose badges on the sides and rear - they make me smile!
Plus I've started to address the interior cleanliness as its been a Dogs car, as well as stood for 4 years - I sprinkled it with Bicarbonate of Soda to de-oderise it...
Heater and cooling is working well and its drying out each time I use it..

That's all for now - more as I go along if you are still interested in the story...
