Got myself a V70 2.5T SE

Made a start on cleaning the underside of the V70 in preperation for its first application of Lanoguard. For an 18 year old car it really isn't very dirty, there's none of the usual mud build up and the clean up is just to get rid of road splashes that have dirtied the underside over the years

This is before any cleaning pictures.

That's the rear half of the car underside cleaned ready for the Lanoguard application. There was no rust, no thick caked on mud just a light coat of dirt from being 18 years old.

That’s the front end cleaned ready for Lanoguard. I was surprised at how little muck there was at the top of the strut towers and o ce cleaned I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of rust up there as it’s a known weak spot on the P2 V70s.

Removed the back wheels today to allow better access and managed to find a load more muck from inside some of the suspension arms.




Most of the muck was in trapped in this bracket, quietly sitting waiting for the next downpour so that it could rust a little more. A good douse in Lanoguard will sort it out




There was also quite a bit of muck trapped in this arm but it looks to be a non ferrous metal so not as much of a concern




The bump stop plates were missing paint round the outer edges




Good time to check behind them for rust




Painted and refitted, wheel arch liners de-tarred and will apply some Chemical Guys Bare Bones once the Lanoguard has been applied

Lanoguard completed today and just need to let it dry overnight

It also works when the rear seats are folded down, gives a bit more protection from 'flying bits' for the driver and passenger.

The metal fold down ones are better when the back seats are up though.

An easy job today changing the 18 year old fuel filter. The original factory tape was still on the hose retaining clips which has kept them free from dirt and corrosion making for easy removal.




New filter fitted and I smothered the inside of the bracket with Lanoguard


I decided to tape up the clips, not sure what Volvo used at the factory but it did seem to be some sort of masking tape so I've done mine with that to make life easy next time the filter needs changed

Took the Spacesaver out yesterday to check and discovered it has never been fitted or used. Tyre date is 08/05 and the V70 was registered in 09/05 therefore original to this car.









Postman arrived today with a set of roof cross bars for non rail V70s which I managed to find after a long ardous search. I was offered plenty S60 bars but according to Volvo they don't fit the V70. Caveat Emptor if you are searching...
