Artwilliam,
Mine is geartronic too. You are lucky not to experience the same difficulty that many of us do. |

Ive an RRS now and no sign of the lag on it!! Fuel consumptions better. (37.2mpg at best and 24.1 worst pulling the twin axle caravan against 31.1 and 19.8 for the same with the XC) HAndles better, comfier, and goes like a train with and without the van!! Pick up from a standstill is almost instantaneous (apart from turbo lag). Al round FAR superior vehicle for around the same price as an XC.

yep i would look at one for my next purchsase if it wasn't for the slightly dodgy essex wives image and the lack of space in the back.
Prices are still pretty high too. Last edited by artwilliam; Aug 3rd, 2009 at 12:38. |

ive had this problem with a long delay of several seconds on a 2005 xc90 awd d5 ive had from new !! i live in a cul de sac with a poor bend above in a so called 30 mph , it fealt as if turning right uphill as if it was pot luck in my xc90! it took the dealer to take the car home himself and try it and comment it was dangerous!! it was some engine management switch and a total reset of the hundereds of errors on the computer.(THAT IS ALWAYS AN EXCUSE )
i would say it still feels that there is a slight pick up delay. HEATING has also been a problem in defrosting the car !! i had a problem all winter 2 years ago !!! it took a complete change of the computer and wiring loom to fix it , or so that is what i was told after loosing the car for a week !! are these cars really built in a cold climate? currently this last winter i have a problem of the car not wanting to go up slippery frosting small amount of snow , ive got rid of the cross country tyres , is that a joke ? and put on good year wranglers on the rear , as used on the landrovers. well muddy areas , it is embarressing , four wheel drive ,,,,err no. my autocross driving brother in law said come on muddy puddles here we come !!! so i drove it into a muddy puddle ,and stopped ,,,with the diff slip off and in manual 1st gear , yes it finally grunted out of a puddle!! however he was looking outside , front wheels spinnnig in geartronic mode , back wheels doing nothing !!! anybody any ideas ,,,is my 4 wheel drive not working at all ,,,,, seems very much like a front wheel drive car !! |

yes unfortunately it sounds as if your bevel gear may have broken - a common-ish problem.

Sounds like yet another victim of the "unheard of" bevel gear problem.............

I've recently picked up an '09 D5 Geartronic and its suffering from this problem. Unless I floor it when taking off, there's a delay to the car moving forward and its very dicey, particularly at junctions, roundabouts etc.
I'll mention it to the dealer when it goes in next week to have its "load compensating rear suspension" fitted which was apparently forgotten when the car was made. |

V70 d5 aut awd
I'm brand new in this forum and would like to enter this thread.
Does anyone know if this issue also occurs on cars with manual transmissions? I have a 2007 V70 D5 AUT AWD and I also experience this trottle delay. Many times I've been so close to an accident when depressing the throttle and nothing happens, I press a little more and all of a sudden a massive power is released and the car is plunged away like canon ball. I have an appointment with my Volvo dealer the 19th of August regarding the delay and also the gear change carachteristics. The gear change doesnt match the powerfull D5. It sometimes revs up to red line when accelerating were the D5 has no power. It must be a software fix dont you think? Nicklas Weidinger, Sweden Pardon my english... |

Yes we think so but VCUK say the problem doesnt exist. Same with the gearbox. It operates within its normal parameters like this!!

Maybe an old question...
Has anyone asked the local dealer to take the car for a test drive and ask for his/her opinion? Thinking, maybe better to let the local dealer put pressure on the Volvo Corp.
