FAT16 and FAT32 are all different standards, the same as NTFS, or NFS are different standards with the primary differences between FAT16 and FAT32 being the addressable space and block size - the actual layout is the same, just more

I've given up on trying to load MyPOI's. Nothing seems to work but thanks for all the suggestions.

Does anyone think that it's because my Software is 0930 which seems to be the oldest version I've seen or is that the engine control module and not relevant to the Sensus infotainment system? I might phone the garage and seek advice about having the update redone, if that is possible.

Just one thought , you say you have downloaded files to a USB stick, but have you unzipped them?

Indeed there is a standard for FAT32 which is quite complex, unfortunately not everyone gets it right and that may include Volvo.

Been around too long and seen too many duff implementations of so called standards!

Yes. The files are unzipped .gpx and load no problem, into the Poiedit program on my WinXP PC. Even if they were corrupt I would expect the sensus system to see the files but the system detects the USB stick, the IMPORT message is activated and when I press OK, the USB stick label is displays and nothing then happens when pressing OK or turning the bezel. This is the root level and the system does not display any files to progress.

Thanks

You mention the gpx files but are the bmp files on the stick as well, just wondering if sensus is looking for both.

I pulling hairs over the same problem. If anyone has a solution, please let me know as well. I have a S60 2011 and upgraded the Sensus from v2 to v3 (the software version remains the same at 0930 instead of 0BC0 though). Not sure if it is a indication of any problem in the upgrade as the software version has not changed.
I can play .mp3 files with no problem. There may be a software issue here as the GPX files are not recognised. i downloaded a sample GPX file to try and it does not show up. This is exactly the same as what you are having problems with. Will check with Volvo dealership when i can.

0930 is OK that is the version I had and is linked to the car manufacture.

I presume you get as far as IMPORT POI and nothing appears even though you have a USB stick plugged in with a file with a .gpx extension?

yes. that is correct. just sits on the USB label which was imported without showing the sample gpx file in the stick.

Can someone please send me a sample .gpx files that is working on your Volvo Sensus ? That will weed out the sample file i had was not a issue. Thanks.

In the last hour I have registered as a subscriber for £19.99/annum to http://www.pocketgpsworld.com and just have downloaded the current Speed Camera database chosing from the dropdown list of databases "Other - GPX" - this being in a format applicable to the Volvo NavTeq system.
I then simply unzipped the file & copied the 2 files (database & icon file) to a USB stick & uploaded via the "Import POI" option onto the cars hard drive.
I was then able to see an icon for all speed camera's on my Sat Nav screen - all very easy & simple
Hopefully tomorrow I will test it out & see if I get the choosen alarm sound when I approach a registered camera.
hi
can i impose on you to borrow sample of your gpx file. i need to work out if it is the usb that my volvo sensus cannot read or the gpx file. i am in melb, australia so the road map is of no use other than to test my volvo sensus v3.0's software install. thanks.
