The P1 XC90 (2003-2015) is currently on a 2-year map update cycle.
Updates are delivered as approx. 12 GB of files spread across 2 physical DVDs
The update for the P1 XC90s with HDD-based nav systems takes around 200 minutes to complete... and that's just writing from DVD to harddrive. No download time required.

As the release cycle is currently 2 years, I have to wait 3 years before I can truly say "I'm being abandoned" !!

PS:
For the P1 XC90 the latest maps were released January 2018, which means a map data date of likely December 2017.

So we don't get one in May ? This makes our update cycle 12 months.

I think the May 18 update is for those people (pre sensus CONNECT) who used to have to buy update discs but have now upgraded their software (cost option) to allow download and install via USB. Their last update was in 2016.

Not certain, but maybe the previous owner hadn't upgraded the nav before I bought my MY16 last June, because I have definitely updated the maps on it twice since I bought it.

Decided after over a year, I'll try the navigation voice contrals, on my trained system. Well "Enter postcode code" is interesting if the postcode has the letter 'O'. It always seems to transpose it as '0' zero, and say invalid postcode. Very maddening.
