Were / are both cars manual? Remember your V70 didn't have a dpf throttling it.

But what a shock to the wallet, I've had a V70 D5 2.4 for 8 years put over 100,000 miles on it and it was still showing 50 to 55 MPG which in real terms was more like 45 - 50 MPG

We have put 600 miles on the XC60 cruising round the Highlands over last weekend, this car is only returning 37 at best.

It looks like I've been taken for a mug by the glossy brochure or it's simply the engine needs to "bed in" over a further 10K miles.

I'm simply left with mixed feelings over the car, I'll report back in a year when I've got say 15K on the clock.

Has anyone one else found improved economy and what MPG are you getting?

Bob

Both manual gearboxes, just cheaper road tax for car that actually does 25% less MPG

Hi - My 2WD manual XC60 is doing around 43mpg on a day to day basis. This improved steadily from around 5K miles onwards so I think you have maybe a 10% improvement to see longterm.

I have a fuelly account www.fuelly.com and having looked back I struggled to achieve over 38-39 mpg for the first 4 months 4-5K miles. Some of it is a learning curve with adjusting to driving a different car though.

I also recently drove a fairly tight new XC60 AWD geartronic AWD D4 and returned 38mpg which I didn't think was too bad. I may be particularly lightfooted though as my car is one of the most economical XC60s on Fuelly!

I'm hoping for 38ish. Thinking the moire efficient engine on a heavier body should be similar to my current car.

But I daresay I'll be wrong. Considered an Evoque but the published mog v real is so far out. Seems an industry wide con.

My D5 is currently showing 31mpg from new, after 29k miles. I did a 220 mile round trip the other week, nearly all on motorway and got 40mpg. Best I've ever seen over any distance, but it was a pretty gentle cruise due to heavy traffic.

My XC60 AWD D5 Geartronic has covered 12.5K in 15 months, MPG has increased to 36.7, in Jan this was 32.2, the avg has never been reset from new. No real difference in daily/ weekly short commuting through a mixture of A& B roads and the odd dual carriageway.

I've only changed the tyre pressure to 'Eco' pressure, and changed fuel to Shell VPOWER NITRO+ (what a name!?), and covered 2K in this period...

I cant really say if it's the engine running-in, or a change in driving style, of a blend of all the above, all I know is the MPG has increased by 4.5MPG.

Thanks for the info on Fuelly,

I've joined that too. I'll just have to wait and see what the return is like in the fullness of time.

You never know It could be me, a strange man in another Passion Red XC60, I've yet to see another one.
