Thanks

My V40 was a discounted dealer spec, with every option on it, so got an insight into the tech I wasn't likely to need. Tried out ACC once and have switched off the lane assist, as it's annoying on the country lanes of Yorkshire.

Thanks for that.

There are load of products in auto mags that claim they can protect the paintwork against stone chip damage, are any of these any good or another rip off?

I think to get stone chip protection you need to go with a clear wrap like VentureShield. I haven't tried it but it comes recommended by people I'd trust. Of course, it's not cheap -might be around £1,000 to get a front end wrap done (wings, bonnet, bumper etc). So you need to be pretty keen to bother. Also need to take care about who you get to install it. Pw Pro in Mansfield have a great reputation over on the GTR forum, but I'm not sure whether they do VS, but would be worth a call to see.

Dealer one yes. Waste of time. Ceramic paint treatment is a must have in my book though. This new water based paint marks really easy otherwise. Volvo should do it in the factory. Had two of mine done so far. One off the best things you can do with a car having lived with it for a while. No stone chips so far. The self healing wrap is even better. Check out the YouTube videos. You can see the wire brush scratch's disappear.

Can someone advice me if buying a T8 XC90 through my limited company makes financial sense?

I have a limited company but would not use the car exclusively for company business.
I am in the 40% tax bracket and do about 20,000 mile annually.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I am in exactly the same situation as you and currently run a V60 D6 and have ordered a T8. Yes it does make sense. I used to run my own cars and never put them through the company but with a tax of 5% on the purchase price I pay around £2K of tax including personal fuel allowance. The T8 will be more as the purchase price is higher but still well below the 20-25% tax you get on standard cars. You can claim the electric back as fuel as well. You will also get 100% corporation tax relief on the purchase in the first year. You still right down the value of the purchase but beware that you will pay tax if you sell the car on the sale price.

Thanks so much.
I do have some questions though. My annual 20k mileage is probably about 60%business and 40% private . How does that affect my tax/ payments?

Also do you know any on line calculator I could use to work out some figures?

On mileage you can keep a record of the mileage and pay your own portion of the fuel or as I do pay tax on private fuel which is a lump sum. Even for the limited mileage you do it would still be better to pay the tax. It also saves having to keep records of your mileage.

The government one is good as it works out private fuel as well. Put in the car has 49co2 emissions as the current website is wrong at 59 as it drops the tax by 4%.
