The S40 only does about 500 miles a year, and spends the rest of the time parked up. Regards |

I hate that I can't turn on my windscreen air vents without turning on the air-con.
I hate that my driver window & sunroof are automatic down but not up. I hate that the back is more comfortable then sitting in the front. I hate that a Fiat Punto has more interior space then an S40. I hate the horrible rear visibility and blind spots. I hate the fact that a PH1 is much more roomier in the front then a PH2. I hate I hate I hate... But I love just as much!

1. Never found this to be a issue 2. I sit in the front so wouldn't know lol 3. Yes but unlike the fiat your S40s spare parts can't be found at the news agents 4. Agreed it can be irritating 5. We had a P1, can't say I noticed a difference.

I think jabe has hit the nail on the head, there are things that could have been better with the x40 but the flaws add to the cars character as much as they annoy!!
Love this quote from Gary: I hate that the back is more comfortable then sitting in the front. That comment has been made before, but I can't steer from the back seat, although my mother-in-law seems to think she can I hate the fact I bought a lemon of a car and that I need to spend more money on the car than the car is worth!! I cannot trust the car to take me away on holiday at the moment as she has let me down far too often!! Do I hate the car? No. I just need to put a little more time and money into her and I intend to do so!! I love the car despite all her faults and want to turn this knackered 170,000 mile shed into a car I want to go on holiday in!!

the only thing i would like is the trip computer, the thing i hate is dealer prices for parts, i had a jag some years ago and parts were cheeper for that than they are for the volvo.
but i have to say i love my s40 and wouldnt change it exept for another s or v40

Love it like I Hate it!!
I've got a 2000 V40 Diesel. 167k miles (77k by myself in the past 11 years). Winter pack, cruise, comfy cloth seats,
I HATE that it has a MAF problem at the moment - easily fixable I HATE that it has a Renault engine in it! - not so easily fixable I HATE that the boot lid stops have snapped off - procrastinating I HATE that it has got soo old, everytime something breaks, I feel like parting with it! Looking for a V50 now with S trim, cruise, and Winterpack! |

All simple fixes/repairs and if it breaks, it will usually be cheaper to repair than to shell out thousands on a newer car. Gary
