The English language is evolving all the time, if a word is used enough, even txt spk then it ends up in the dictionary. Adamsky01 could well have better grammar than the lot of you!

have been reading clarksons book recently and he makes the suggestion that people's spelling changing year on year so could text speak be the future?Words we know today were spelt differently only 1-200 years ago. The cavemen used pictures as did the egyptians.

Still doesn't account for some of the indeciperable crap that is put on forums sometimes.

Good luck with the book, I will pass just for the reason that the things you suggest mean I will have to spend £20-30 just to annoy a possible burglar.
Buy a rottweiler it does the same job and guarantees you wont get burgled.

My best tip for free. Get a baby listener, if you have a garage or drive. The theives are more scared of a 20 stone guy with a baseball bat than they are of the police, so they run scared of these. What would scare you more, 3 months probation or 3 months hospital?

Default Hints!

English isn't the only thing where there are gaps in common sense education.
I spend some time (paid) in a local school where I usually spend 2 or 3 hours in the autumn term teaching the newcomers how to tie a tie PROPERLY ie a
half windsor.

If a job's worth doing... etc etc

I only know half and full windsor knots. Are there other ways to tie a tie?

I seem to remember, from history, dots and dashes being extrememly popular in the 40's but I can't recall any stories from my parents age group of them being allowed to pass English 'O' Level exams writing dot, dot, dash, dash, dash, dash or ..- ---.
Maybe Gordon has a cunning plan of letting this go so he can open a whole new government department translating business (international) English to Txt English. The government can then control the flow of all external communication.
