I actually prefer the saloons. I have an estate now because it is what came available, and also it is more practical.

But, if I was ignoring practicality it would easily be an early 760 turbo saloon. Saloons look much better IMHO and definitely handle better.

Go on, you know you want it!!

A 760 Turbo, 1990, one owner....says it all I think.

Price...well, to me at least, the price is good and should not be ignore. At least go and have a look. If ok offer £350 and see what happens.

Bad experience?

Not all of them are bad you know. My 780 has this engine and I guess I am one of the lucky ones as mine runs super smooth, quiet, everything works, emissions are below max allowed limit and it's very good on fuel (for a 24 yrs old!) at 30.3mpg

WOW! I struggled to beat 17 mpg in mixed running and ONCE got 20 mpg on a quiet 65mph cruise round an empty M25 with my B280E. And it was SO slow. My redblocks typically show emissions of zero or about one-hundredth of the permitted limits (varies from car to car) and some of the engines are no spring chickens.

But we are straying from topic. I don't know why the saloons should handle better - surely they were heavier, and they did not have the wonderful Nivos.

I know the saloons had 60 profile tyres (on the 15 inch rims) and the estates 65 profile.

The saloons are heavier??

Estates feel too wallowy - I assumed to to extra weight - but maybe it's just a higher C of G because all of the weight is high up?

My '88 740 saloon (before shocks/springs changed) with knackered suspension was still great fun on the lanes - no understeer, nice rear-wheel drive feel from the rear end and really quite responsive in the corners!

Well, I suppose that settles it; just got off the phone to my insurance people and they have sorted me (and my missus) cover for... £160.06 - none too shabby, eh?

12 months TPFT, 6k mileage limit, it'll do to buy the tax disc, lol.

Roll on Saturday then.

I think I might have probs sourcing replacement rear light clusters...

I believe they are 780 units, but I'll stand being corrected, lol.

Excuse snap quality.
