Ed did say on the programe that it wsn't cheap, but if its a one off, and if your planning to keep your car for a while...... could be worth the extra cost.

As for the cost of the flush , apparently it can be filtered and re used.

The prep fluid is supplied as 5L but the 5 pot engine needs 7,2L to fill it, I wonder if being 2/3 full will work correctly or would you need to fill it costing twice as much - Mike

the problem is even if it is "lifetime" if some of the coolant level gets used 5% is not a massive margin!

filtered and reused at what cost...

You would need to fill it completely Mike to remove all the water molecules from the system so i would go belt and braces if your going to do it as water itself will be the enemy!

just to add to this a 2.0D to revise my earlier figures (i under estimated the amount of coolant!)
66.58 + VAT (prep fluid - 10 litres)
102.42 + VAT (coolant - 10 litres)
169 + VAT!(around £202!)

£202?!!!!! My last few Volvo 740's cost less than that!

I'm just watching the TR6 episode now so look forward to seeing what this non water based coolant is all about, but for that price, I think i'll stick to normal coolant at £15 or so

Can't see any point or benefit from this if your system is in good condition (as it should be) If your loosing coolant you need to investigate and rectify!

I saw the prog last night and I suppose if you have an ultra rare and delicate car it might be worth it but for a normal car it seems a high risk option,- if you do get a leak away from home topping it up with water means emptying, purifying and refilling again at more expense.
