You've obviously got your heart set on tweaking the foggies :-D fair do's.
You are correct, yellow lights give off less glare than white ones but also bear in mind the reason for this is they put out slightly less light.
Really nothing gives out better light than white light.
Although if you were going the HID route it may compensate for this to a degree.
Whilst it technically wouldn't be legal sometimes you can get away putting an HID bulb in an old school headlamp lense particularly if it has a focused lense without too much light scatter.
If you were using the fogs going up the country lanes to help see the edge of the roads at night then the HID's might help a bit.
It's funny nowadays as you hardly ever see car with auxiliary lights(4X4s excluded) in the UK but when I was in Oz loads of cars had them fitted.
Probably due to us having more lit roads now and lights on cars becoming better.

Hello,
Sorry to hijack your thread Mike. I was planning on finding good yellow bulbs for my fog lights, I'm planning on PIAA's white for the Main/dipped/side.
Any idea of a good 'yellow' pair? Driving in snow on the A9 a while back wasn't ideal in terms on my lighting.
Cheers

No problem, you're more than welcome, hopefully we can both improve the bad weather lighting :-)

I'm not sure about yellow bulbs, I haven't looked to be honest. As byootox said above, I think the light output from yellow bulbs would be quite poor. Yes they might cut through the fog better, but they may not have enough output to actually be of use. Hence the reason why I'm looking at hid's, the higher light output of hid's combined with the yellow light to cut through the bad weather would hopefully be quite effective. If I can find a decent hid kit with the yellow output bulbs I'd happily test them and let you know the results, just can't seem to find any at the moment!

Don't know if they still exist but years ago when you drove to France you had to make your lights yellow before they changed the laws.
It was basicly a plastic sticky tint cover that went over your headlights, it was quite effective.
Maybe if these still exist you could implement the same idea over your foggies and just use a white bulb whether it be HID or not.

saw this recently on amazon and a quick search on ebay for yellow fog light tint came up with lots of sellers. No idea how well it works though, looks fairly cheap to buy too.

Longevity is the only thing I'm not sure about as when we used them it was for a holiday so they didn't need to last that long but they worked well enough during our visit of 3 weeks.
What I do remember was it was a total sod to remove it from the headlights back in the UK again lol !!

Could someone give me a dummies guide to lighting? I don't think my knowledge is as good as I thought it was! Lol. I understand the difference between halogen and hid bulbs, but I'm getting confused with the housings! As far as I can tell there are 3 types, reflector for halogen bulbs, projector for halogen bulbs and projector for hid bulbs. What's the difference between the 2 different projector types? And how much better is a halogen projector to a halogen reflector?

What is fitted as standard to the C70 fog lights? Had a closer look today and it seems to be projector which I wasnt expecting.

When I started this thread I thought I could just get one of the kits with hid bulbs and ballasts and fit them into whatever fog light housing I have at the moment. Now I'm thinking that's not right. So would I have to fit an hid projector housing to fit hid bulbs, or could I fit the hid bulbs and ballasts to what I currently have which I assume is a halogen projector?

This is becoming far more complicated than I thought it would be! Lol

Night breakers with the yellow tint is becoming more and more appealing! Lol

Plus, I guess the yellow tint will also double up as a stone guard as well, the lens on my current fog lights are quite badly marked.
