No. The early XC70 from 01-03(ish) used a viscous coupling. This very often broke. From about 04 onwards (till 07 which is when the P3 came out) it uses a haldex system. This is much more reliable (but still prone to issues)

After warming it up go around some town with hills. Descending a hill after a turn or ascending an abrupt one. Try to make it shift out of its comfort zone.
It's OK if it needs to correct itself. Doing so loudly can be a red flag. How many bangs and clunks you accept is up to you. I suppose "shift queer" won't be appearing in transmission repairmen handbooks anytime soon. |

I'm going to see a 2010 xc70 tomorrow. 143k miles, full service history except one thing, not record of timing belt being changed.
Do you think it would be a deal breaker? It's not to say it's not been done, just no record of it. Everything else seems great. Previous MOT's good, service history good (except the timing belt) |

seems like a good excuse to get a few 100 quid off it to me
just put money aside to make it your first job, or use money from selling your current car to fund it (thats what im doing with my XC70) best of luck |

i'd go test drive it etc and if you want it see if they'll throw that in with the deal. worth asking
200 seems pretty cheap i've been gearing up for a 500 bill for the cambelt |

And what make pump, belt and tensiobers would they be fitting for that price?
PS: 2010 seems to be P3 model.. Seems we may have similar tastes. Must go with the job.. However, I'm hunting one (mentioned it several times) with a 3.2 petrol lump, definitely without 4C, and with black leather. I justify to myself the expenditure on excise duty (over £0.5k per annum) as: If I have a choice between paying ULEZ and paying for big motor, then at least I'll have some fun
