Very heavy snow in and around York and Selby area last night. Went out to collect my daughter from work at 10pm, and it was blizzard conditions all the way there and back. The usual 40 minute round trip took nearly double that.

Not much snow settled but I don't think I've ever seen such heavy snow falling.

Just been outside changing the rear brake shoes on the wife's Almera, it's a beautiful sunny day but I'm sure it's getting colder rather than warmer out there, the wind has got up a bit since I started so that's probably not helping.

Down to zero here in the Lincolnshire Wolds, snow flurries yesterday, and hailstones the size of ball bearings this morning (just stopped) - set off the car alarms.

Hope there's no dents...when I was a kid we went on holiday to northern Spain (Galicia) in my Dad's brand new car, got caught in a hailstorm, the ice was the size of golf balls, and the car looked like someone had gone 'round it with a ball pein hammer.

Dad had a hell of a job convincing people/insurers it wasn't vandalism.

Winter tyres going on soon.

Prufrock.
