At one point I misplaced the key for my 740, phoned the local Volvo main dealer, new key arrived within two days, cost around £30. Of course I then found the original key lol.

My scrappie just rang me, he is only offering me £100 for the 764 TD which is much heavier than yours! I thought scrap metal was up in price again at the moment? I'll look into this later, off to work now

Just bought a new key for my 960 from the local dealer - £18 inc Vat. Gotta be worth asking the question of your dealer before scrapping?
Good luck,

I need to do a lot of work to her to get a fair price, plus she has nigh on brand new expensive tyres on her which I could have as spares, plus other parts. If I do scrap her I won't feel guilty as I gave away my last 940 TD in order to avoid a Volvo being scrapped and lost myself a few few quid in the process; I can't afford to keep doing that. It is sacrilege though to scrap a rustless body with a D24Tic that has done less than 120 thou and whose pump has done less than 40 thou, I must take the pump off if she is scrapped

Whilst I hope you are either able to sell your car or obtain a replacement key, if in the end you decide to send it for scrap, please could I buy the owner's manual? You can reach me on 01845524517.
